Waikato Real Estate has recently held a seminar about duplex conversions. Peter Leach from Design Homes was presenting on how he has successfully added second homes to small sites in Hamilton, thanks to Design Homes’ creative take on Hamilton City Council’s planning rules.

Existing properties with sections big enough to put another dwelling in, but not sufficient to have a separate dwelling built, can be used for a duplex. The idea is to connect an existing house with a new build home on that section.

There are many obstacles to get this duplex conversion done. I don’t think many people are enjoying going back and forward with a planner, designer, trades and others to get this happen. I am offering my help and support to put you in touch with specialists who can do this for you.
